New maintenance and reliability survey results reflect common challenges and shared opportunities
When industrial machines fail, uncertainty and frustration quickly set in. These failure risks and their associated costs are the reason why so many organizations— from the executive suite to front-line plant personnel—are increasing focus on curtailing critical equipment failures.
In December 2021, Plant Services deployed its new Machine Maintenance & Reliability Industry Survey to explore this commitment to machine health and how organizations are putting it into action. The survey was sponsored by Augury, and more than 150 respondents took part, comprised of both corporate and plant floor professionals from industries such as pulp and paper, building products, and food and beverage.
“Reducing planned outages means either debottlenecking the process or reducing the number of tasks to shorten the duration, and the only way to do that is with condition-based programs, which most respondents say they don’t have.”
