“The Rise of AI in Factories” – Fortune Brands Innovations and Augury Speak to How Predictive Maintenance Is Impacting Factory Jobs

What does the factory of the future look like and how will technology affect plant-floor workers? Augury customer Fortune Brands Innovations and Saar Yoskovitz, Augury CEO, are featured in a new Bloomberg Originals documentary short explaining how AI-driven Machine Health is impacting maintenance work and production practices.

In “The Rise of AI in Factories,” the latest installment of a Bloomberg Originals video series on the intersection of business and culture, Saar Yoskovitz explains how AI-driven predictive maintenance is giving manufacturers new tools to improve productivity, worker skills, and digital transformation – benefits the industry needs more than ever as it looks to overcome longstanding challenges and new market uncertainties.

The video investigates the ways Artificial Intelligence technologies such as robotics, automation, sensors, and analytics are impacting the industry.

“One of the questions we always get from people on the production lines is, is the computer coming in to replace me? And in fact the goal is not to replace people – it’s to arm them with new tools, more modern tools. Instead of looking at all of their thousands of machines every day, now they can focus on the five or 10 machines that actually need their attention.” – Saar Yoskovitz

The video also highlights the real-world success Fortune Brands Innovations is having with Augury’s Machine Health solution by helping maintenance technicians at their Fiberon composite decking plant in North Carolina find and resolve issues before they impact production. “Without the sensors, we can have an unexpected failure in the process – they can occur on the weekend and it can cause unplanned downtime,” explained Ric Wojcik, Engineering Manager for Fiberon.

The Fiberon site generated 2.5x ROI in eight months using Augury’s AI-powered Machine Health, triggering an enterprise-wide rollout across their North American and European operations. Fortune also garnered the top ranking in Augury’s first annual Spotlight Awards in 2024, earning a Beam of Excellence award, which honors teams for excellence in predictive maintenance.
